Cyg has to double take when MATIAS SILPH arrives on a fucking Legendary.

Her jaw drops as she watches the green deer flee, and she kind of points in its direction.

“Excuse me?”

The grass behind her waves and Harley the Quilava slips out and drops a Starly at her feet, standing up on his haunches and waiting for praise. The little bird chirps frantically and flails a wing, the other wing hanging limply at its side. Cyg takes pity on it and shoves it in a Pokeball.

A Pidgeot swings close to investigate and Cyg swaps her Quilava for her Raichu, who zaps it out of the sky.

before matias could jump into the training plan for the day, a timburr leaps in to throw a FOCUS PUNCH at manectric. how GUTSY of it.[break][break]

a quick THUNDER is all it takes before timburr's dropping into a pokeball.[break][break]

he calls out his togetic. it looks around, then starts flying in random directions.[break][break]

"try hitting the togetic."

Kickback sniffs up in the air, ears flexing, as he tries to zero in on the zipping Togekiss; he curls up and shoots off a thunder, filling the air with the scent of electrical charges.

A Heracross is startled out of the grass and throws itself at the Raichu, and is caught in the latent electrical charge, jerking and twitching as it falls down. Cyg pops it with a Pokeball.

“Ooops. Try again.”

manectric's THUNDER is far more accurate. the flying-type drops to the ground, PARALYZED before a pokeball smacks into it.[break][break]

“Go off, KB,” Cyg prompts when the Raichu looks to her, a nervous disappointment holding his ears taut.

He nods, tail lashing, bunching his body for another attempt; the thundershock serrates the air, lighting up the environment golden-hot, arcing for where Kickback things the Togekiss is going to be in the point-two seconds it takes the move to make contact. Because that’s it, isn’t it? Guessing where your opponent is going to be, not aiming for where they were. “Now you’re getting it.”

A curious Emolga flutters in, drawn to the burst of electrical charges, and lands on Kickback’s head, peering down at the Raichu with a questioning expression. Cyg goes to shoo it off and it digs its claws in and hisses at her. Kickback pats the top of its head with his lightning-bolt tail, assuring Cyg that it’s okay, it can stay there.

“So how did you come to befriend one of the swords of justice?”

the THUNDERSHOCK manages to find togetic, zapping it temporarily out of the sky. matias nods his head in approval.[break][break]

"nice. now let's work on precision."[break][break]

after a moment of recovery, togetic flies up and up and up until it's but a mere dot in the sky. it doesn't move much this time, just gentle swaying to remain afloat.[break][break]

"i placed fourth in the hoenn star tournament last year. the swords of justice were watching, apparently, and made themselves known. melody and kyle were chosen by the other two."[break][break]
